The health and safety of our campers are of the utmost importance to us here at Long Lake Camp Adventures. Everything we do is designed to maintain the highest health and safety standards. We are regulated by the New York Department of Health which has the strictest standards of any health department in America. The Health department visits us 3 times over every summer and we always score in the top 5% of the camps in our area. Because we deal with children we are held to a much higher set of standards than a hotel, restaurant or recreational facility. We thrive to be the best and have a proven track record of surpassing the highest standards in the country.
Health Care and Nurses
Our new health center has 3 registered nurses ample space and private rooms for sick campers and staff, modern bathrooms with new toilets and showers. We feel a clean and airy health center is very important. Some camps only have one nurse and a old dingy office. Keeping our nurses rested, happy and not overwhelmed is the key to a well run medical center. Our three nurses are happy in their work area and love helping our campers feel better. The health center has spectacular view of the lake and mountains and if a great place for campers to receive any daily medications or on the spot care. We can administer prescription medications as well as an approved list of over the counter medications.
Doctors and Ambulance
We are very fortunate to have an extremely good camp doctor called Dr. Rider. He lives on the same road as us and his office is only 5 minutes away. The Doctor is always ready to make a stop to the camp if necessary and sets time aside each day at his practice for our campers and staff. The local ambulance is only 5 minutes from camp and their response time is excellent.
Hospital
Though it is rare we need one we have a few modern and respected hospitals nearby. 20 minutes from camp is the Tupper Lake Health center, 45 minutes from camp is Adirondack Medical Center.
Communication
If your child goes to the doctor we will call you and keep you well informed as to the visit and any treatments. We keep very good communication with parents during the summer. Our health center phone number is 518-624-5361 (summer only). If you have any medical concerns at all please call us on 914-693-7111 to discuss before camp.
